once in a blue moon

Today the 00s end. Tomorrow the 10s begin. And I'm really praying that the new decade will bring in an era of peace, love, and happiness.

Remember the turn of the century; how it was filled with brilliant optimism and the promise of better things to come? And yet all we've been served over the past decade is fear, war, anxiety and greed. It's as if the new century got off to a false start, and tomorrow we get the chance to start again.

Perhaps that is why there will be a blue moon this evening; because this is the Dawning Of The Age Of Aquarius. When the moon is in the seventh house, the astrological house of co-operation and relationships.

And perhaps that is why the theme for this evening's 2010 fireworks display on Sydney Harbour is "Awaken The Spirit".

I'll be watching the fireworks from a yacht, with my wife and my youngest daughter. I'll also be doing my bit to awaken every living spirit, under the light of a full, blue moon, in my quest to help make our world a better place for every one. I invite you to join me.

the other side

One day a young traveler came to the banks of a wide and deep river.

There was no way to cross and he walked along the edge of the water for miles, feeling hopeless.

Just as he was about to give up and go back the way he had come, he saw a wise Zen Master on the opposite bank of the river. The young traveler called to the Master, “Oh great teacher, can you tell me how to get to the other side of this river?”

The Zen Master stood for a moment, silently watching the rushing stream and then yelled to the traveler: “My friend - you are on the other side!"

haiku

I want my bubble
to fill the whole universe:
I blow and blow... POP!

Roxy's poem

Be Free

I am on a picnic and I gently shut my eyes.

I feel the blazing hot sun on my pale cold skin.

I see flowers dancing so freely above me.

I slowly start to dance with them and as I look down my feet are not rested on the soft silky grass.

I am flying.

Gently and freely with the wind.

The flowers carefully follow me, up, up, and up I go now dancing with the wind and the flowers.

It is growing darker but I don't notice, I am having too much fun.

I keep flying freely like a majestic bird soaring through the sky.

Night has fallen and the gracious flowers carry me up to the perfect glistening moon.

I pass shining stars and I soar through the long endless Milky Way.

I softly land on the moon.

The flowers stop dancing and create a bed for me to rest on.

I lie down and gently shut my eyes.

As they open I am back at my picnic.
