the power of YOU

It’s amazing how some people say these small little things -- a few words or one sentence -- and it totally changes the way you feel about them in an instant. Small little words that can hurt you so much, or make you fall deeply in love with them forever. Those few words change everything and nothing between you is ever the same again, even if they don’t know it.

Choose YOUR words well ...

the man in the mirror ...

Just imagine living in a world without mirrors. You’d dream about your face and imagine it as an outer reflection of what is inside you. And then, when you reached forty, someone put a mirror before you for the first time in your life. Imagine your fright! You’d see the face of a stranger. And you’d know quite clearly what you are unable to grasp: your face is not you.

because 7/10 just doesn't cut it

“I can accept anything, except what seems to be the easiest for most people: the half way, the almost, the just about, the in between."

the view from the outside in

In the words of Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell:

You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon international politics looks so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck, drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, “Look at that, you son of a bitch”.

i met a genius today

I met a genius on the train today
about 4 years old,
he sat beside me
and as the train
ran down along the coast
we came to the ocean
and then he looked at me
and said,
it's pretty.

it was the first time I'd
realized
that.

get into books

We need to make books cool again. If you go home with somebody and they don’t have books, don’t fuck them.

un-BOX

Feeling a little boxed in?

Perhaps that's because we are more than 'a little' boxed in. We wake up on a box, we eat from a box, we go to work on a box, we work in a box, we go home in another box, we watch the box, we sleep on the same box we wake up on, and when all is said and done ... we die in a box.

Time for a little un-BOXING methinks.

1st empty your mind

A student asked Bruce Lee to teach him everything he knew about martial arts. Bruce held up two cups filled with liquid.

“The first cup,” said Bruce, “represents all of your knowledge about martial arts. The second cup represents all of my knowledge about martial arts. If you want to fill your cup with my knowledge, you must first empty your cup of your knowledge.”

In the same way, if you want to discover your true purpose in life, you must first empty your mind of all the false purposes you’ve been taught [including, by the way, the possibility that you may have no purpose].
